The post you’ve ALL been waiting for! Feast your eyes on this year’s Chef’s Bet Dinner Extravaganza!
What is this Chef’s Bet Dinner?
If this is your first time visiting the blog, let me catch you up to speed. Every year, our husbands bet in their Fantasy Football League/ FFB (I know, so American! Lol) and the losing team must host, conceptualize, prep, cook, and serve a formal sit-down dinner for the winning team, their wives, and a party of approximately 20 total guests. The Deets
The losers spend MONTHS researching their recipes, devising inventive plates, the appropriate liquor to pair each plate with, shop for ingredients, and taste test their dishes in advance. 15 fanciful courses later, guests oooh and ahhhh and yum and nom over the creative prowess of our hardworking, talented, and amazing chef friends (NONE of which are trained professionals by the way).
Traditions
This was our 5th (and possibly final) year we’ve been honoring our husbands’ FFB traditions and le hubs has been on the winning side every year except this one! Booooooooooooo!!! So now that I’m his newly minted wife, I had the honor of not only hosting the event at our home, but devising the theme and decorating the event as a result. Which is what I do honey! So of course since it’s a #JKID sponsored event, I went ALL out!
The Design
Black tie formal attire, check! Sexy garden masquerade theme, check! Romantic dinner by dozens of candlelight, check CHECK!!! Because ambience is EVERYTHING my loves…. Sets the mood, sets the scene, sets the tone for a night of mystery and intrigue.
On the Menu
We sampled everything from foie gras, to uni, to oysters, to caviar, to crudo, to wagyu steak, to king crab, desserts, libations, the list goes on and on and on and on….
After 5 years of taking us through this culinary adventure, I’m convinced there’s NOTHING these fellas can’t do!
The aftermath…. Even with this mess, dining area still looks great! The kitchen…notsomuch lol
