If you are in the OC area and looking for a fabulous Sunday Brunch session where DJ’s be pumpin’ Hip Hop and EDM mash-ups from 11am- suppertime Bosscat Kitchen’s new brunch is just the ticket.

Located adjacent to Ten Asian Bistro and Nightclub in Newport Beach (they share the same owner), Bosscat’s brunch is to Orange County what day clubs are to Las Vegas. Minus the pool and bikinis, add plaid and daisy dukes, multiply by the endless mimosas and sporadic tequila shots and you’ve got yourself a party y’all. Did I mention that they opened just a few weeks back? Get it while it HOT hunnies!

We celebrated my sister’s birthday at their grand opening brunch and couldn’t have been happier with how everything went down. Bomb.com griddle faves like pancakes and omelettes set in a swanky industrial-cool urban interior complete with wagon tables and exposed brick walls. My girls had the time of our lives drinkin’ it up and partying well into dinner.

On the Menu

Red Velvet Pancake Burger with maple mayo, bacon, pork belly, fried egg, and candied pecans

Holy shizzzzznitz this damn burger made me a believer in red velvet again! For years I was sick of the cake variety, but this juicy delectable concoction was incredibly creative and yummylicious to boot! The burger was charred to perfection and the egg yolk oozes with each cut soaking up the red velvet and allowing a moist and savory sweet taste with each bite! Finished with a dusting of powdered sugar OooOoWeE DIVINE!!!

Meatloaf Eggs Benedict with francese bread toast, catsup hollandaise

Served open face, the juicy meatloaf is just as charred as their burgers so I am loving the direction of this brunch menu so far…

Cornbread pancakes with blackberry maple syrup and sausage

Less bells and whistles than the Red Velvet variety but tasty nonetheless. A solid staple to the all American brunch menu.

Short Rib and Dirty Rice Breakfast Burrito with ancho chili, heirloom tomato sauce

Dude this thing fed 12 hungry and half-drunk gals with TONS leftover. About the size of my friggin’ arm, it was so dirty but so goooood!

Sunday Scramble with egg whites, spinach, tomato, and goat cheese

For those watching their summer weight, this is a perfect source of high protein in brunch form. Clean and fresh!

Lobster Poutine with secret recipe fries, maine lobster, mornay sauce, duck fried fat egg

By now I’m sure y’all know that I’m allergic to lobster, I know, I know *cue the violins* but the girls say that this was super BOMB. I’ll take their word for it but please also understand that they may have been super BUZZED at this time as well, lol.

Bosscat Burger with Midwest beef, bacon, cheese, black garlic sauce

They really do their burgers right here at Bosscat. I love a handmade patty that’s oozing with juicy bits…from the garlic-soaked pickles, tomatoes, right down to the buttery bun, it’s insanely good!

Spinach, Goat Cheese, Watermelon Salad, Vinaigrette with candied pecans

Love these kinds of spinach-based salads. Makes me feel like I’m eating healthy if I don’t consider the cheese and nuts, lol.

Avocado Farm Chop Salad, Lemon Verbena Dressing with romaine lettuce, heirloom tomatoes, avocado, bleu cheese, French bread croutons

The Spinach salad is better but we were definitely jonesing for some greens with all that meat above.

Bosscat fries with chow chow catsup

I don’t know what the hell they put in here but it’s like CRACK FRIES! It seems like the wedge potatoes have been coated in a batter to make them super thick and crispy, perfect for soaking up all the libations! My new FAVE fries in ALL of OC! I kid you not!!! Make sure you get extra servings of this sucker, they go FAST with these ravenous mouths!

Know Before You Go

Having just debuted Sunday Brunch on June 8th, we reserved a table on the happenin’ patio but was so sun-drenched opted instead to be moved inside. Perfect for my crazy group of girls who promptly made the adjacent walkway our own private (but not so private) makeshift dance floor bumpin’ and grindin’ to the DJ’s phat beats. Such a fun time to be had at Bosscat brunch when you’re not quite ready to let go of your weekend just yet. Bottomless mimosas come with every entrée for $40/pop so make sure to order one entrée for every person drinking. Thank you to my bro Tai Nguyen for hooking us up! If y’all call for reservations, make sure to ask for Tai and let him know I sent ya- they’ll make sure to take extra special care of you! Will DEF be back for a random weekday dinner one of these days. That crazy high-concept gastro menu’s piqued my interest! I hear their red velvet churros are bomb diggity!*
