Summer is sneaking up on us fast guys!

First with Father’s Day coming up this weekend, next thing you know it’ll be Fourth of July then Labor Day in a blink of an eye!  My favorite part about these hot summer months is all the festive parties we get to throw right in our very own backyard.  My girls and I hosted an intimate Father’s Day soirée for the special hubbies in our lives and here’s how it all went down…

Step 1: Select a Theme

Theme selection is crucial so your event looks and feels coordinated from the ground up.  Guests in matching attire, décor with complementing elements, the devil is truly in the details so pick a theme first and it will be smooth sailing from there.

If you’ve been following this blog or have peeped any of my event designs, you’ll know that theme selection is my specialty!
Let the season be your guide.
Summer screams stripes and coastal chic styling so I opted for a ‘Nautical Glam’ concept with navy, white, and cognac hues as the primary palette.  Sprinkle in some fishnet, burlap, boating vessels, lanterns, and you’ve got yourselves a party y’all.

Step 2: Devise a Menu

While you know the men go ALL OUT with their Chef’s Bet dinners (seen HERE, HERE, and HERE) the women are a little more lax in that department so we decided to cater the event instead.  For a party of 25-30 people, you can pre-select small bites, trays of hors d’oeuvres, book some servers for about $50 a head.  (Yelp/ Google your local caterers for pricing) The servers will set up your buffet table, swap out menu items, bus and clean the space, and even pack all leftover food in convenient togo boxes for guests to carry home.

Beats slaving over the stove and cleaning the kitchen for hours on end! This way everyone gets to enjoy the party and no one is left with the crazy mess.  We women really are smarter in every way! hahah

Just a note:  NEVER forget the nightcap!
When guests are winding down, it’s nice to offer them a soupy nightcap dish to soak in all the alcohol.”
This time, we elected our auntie to make her famous noodle soup, a clear winner at every soirée.

Step 3:  Feature a Main Event

My sister-in-law Elaine has been dreaming of hosting a whiskey flight tasting for years now.  If you’re not familiar with what a flight
tasting is, it’s where you sample a few different varieties of aged whiskey, ounce by ounce to ascertain the complexities of its unique flavor notes.  They can be a flight of different origins and different makers, or in this case, we elected for a variety of different years
from the same maker.  We chose Hibiki, an award-winning Japanese whiskey infamous for its craftsmanship and harmonious
blends of fine liquor.
From Hibiki Suntory website:
Seductive, blossoming and enigmatic, Hibiki® Whisky celebrates an unrivaled art of blending, fine craftsmanship and a sense of luxury from the House of Suntory. From its launch, Hibiki® Whisky has been embraced as the paragon of The Art of Japanese Whisky®, the very product of Japanese nature and her people.

Hibiki® Whisky is not only Japan’s most highly awarded blended whisky, but among the most prestigious and honoured whiskies in the world.

(NOTE: This is NOT a sponsored post, we really love this brand of whiskey)

We started with Hibiki Harmony, the lowest end from their famous line and worked our way up to 12 years aged, then 17 years aged (my favorite), and ended with Hibiki 21, aged 21 years and retails for over $400 a bottle.

Yup, these things don’t come cheap guys!

So find out what your fellas are into and personalize the party to their preferences.  After all, they do father those adorable munchkins of yours so best if they feel appreciated if only for 1 day out of the year! Lol

Step 4: Stop Stressing and Enjoy!

It really takes a team to pull these lavish events together so definitely delegate and don’t do everything yourself honey!
Special thanks to these beautiful ladies, my sisters-in-law Elaine for spearheading the whole shebang and generously sharing her much loved Hibiki bottles, Elle for hosting and offering up her beautiful home and backyard you see here, Cindi for helping with all the décor, and of course can’t forget our gorgeous guests for all the good vibes and great conversation!

We even gathered around and one-by-one the ladies shared what it takes to make a great father, how fabulous their fellas have been, and how lucky their children feel to have these incredible Dads by their side.  Aww, cue the waterworks!

And although my husband has yet to father any 2-legged children, I have all the confidence in the world that he would make the most fantastic Dad everrr with these fellas as role models!

 Thanks for reading loves!

Wishing you all a very Happy Father’s Day Weekend!!
