I’ve attended enough weddings in my lifetime to deduce 3 things:
1 | One
Outdoor receptions breed a CRAZY bunch of guests. So if you reside in a location that allows such amenities, make it a point to book the party outside. Be it an estate, under a tent, or even beachside with just a handful of family and friends, guests never forget an evening under the stars surrounded by a superfluous amount of L-O-V-E. Something about the open air that really helps to get the party started right…and quickly, might I add.
Which segues into my next point…
2 | Two
The after-party is just as significant as the actual event. No matter what anyone tells ya, EVERYONE is in the mood to party all night long. I swear they feed off the adrenaline that’s pumping from the newly wedded couple, to their family, to the friends that have followed along their journey that has ended up in marriage. The party officially starts when the dancing begins. So make sure you’re rocking comfy kick-ass shoes or pack an extra pair of flats to keep the momentum going.
And last but DEFINITELY not least:
3 | Three
Alcohol is WAYYYYYYYYYY more important than food. Guests will NEVER remember how awful the food was if the alcohol was aplenty. Can’t tell ya how many weddings overlook such a critical aspect of a reception. If budgets are constrained, cut down on the food costs so you can splurge on the liquor. Party planning 101 y’all.
The Deets
Mary and Kien’s Orange County nuptial was nothing short of fantastic! Not only did they nail all 3 points, but they even managed to incorporate fun, unique elements like the landscape artist appointed to capture the night in acrylics…the outdoor rocking loveseat doubling as the guestbook sign-in and newlywed souvenir to treasure for years to come…the gorgeous mansion estate as the leading backdrop for this momentous occasion and the accompanying 5,000 square foot pool house that retained all 300 guests for the after party. All-in-all, my idea of the perfect, fantasy wedding.
Congrats to our lovebirds Mary and Kien! Hope you’re enjoying a ridiculously romantic honeymoon in Italy and can’t wait to share all the crazy wedding stories when you get back! We love you guys…Cheers to happily ever after!!!
